After four and a half years chartering through Club Nautique, Rabbit Hole Sailing announced a new direction in January 2026: independent charter operations, more personal sailing experiences, and a renewed commitment to the sailing community.
We're excited to share an important update from Rabbit Hole Sailing as SV Rabbit Hole prepares for her next chapter on San Francisco Bay.
After four and a half years chartering through Club Nautique, we are charting a new course.
Moving forward, charter requests will be handled directly through Rabbit Hole Sailing, allowing us to create a more personal, flexible, and intentional sailing experience.
It is an exciting transition, and one that reflects what we have always loved most about sailing: the people, the experiences, and the opportunities to learn and explore together.
What's Changing
Transitioning to direct charters gives us the opportunity to work more closely with the sailors who come aboard Rabbit Hole.
Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all booking model, we are developing a program that emphasizes thoughtful preparation, capable seamanship, and meaningful time on the water.
Our vision includes several ways to enjoy SV Rabbit Hole:
Owner-on-Board Experiences: Opportunities to enjoy sailing with the owners aboard.
Skippered Charters: Sailing experiences with a qualified captain at the helm.
Bareboat Charters: Opportunities for qualified and approved sailors to charter Rabbit Hole independently.
Private and Semi-Private Sailing Instruction: Personalized opportunities to strengthen sailing skills and confidence.
Each experience offers a different way to enjoy sailing, but all share the same philosophy.
Sailing should be welcoming, rewarding, and built around the people who share the adventure.
Whether someone is looking to develop new skills, gain experience aboard a larger cruising yacht, or simply enjoy a beautiful day on San Francisco Bay, we want Rabbit Hole Sailing to be a place where they feel welcome.
What's Coming Next
As of January 2026, we are completing the final steps necessary to establish our independent charter operation.
This includes insurance, licensing, and the operational procedures needed to support safe and responsible chartering.
Over the coming weeks, we plan to share more information about charter availability, sailor qualifications, booking procedures, and sailing and learning opportunities.
We anticipate being fully operational by early spring 2026.
Our priority is to establish the program carefully, with clear expectations, thoughtful procedures, and a strong commitment to safety.
We believe that taking the time to do things properly will create a better experience for everyone.
