Rabbit Hole Sailing, LLC has no membership or initiation fees — you simply charter when you’re ready to sail.

Introducing the VIP Access Pass
The VIP Access Pass grants pass holders priority access to Rabbit Hole Sailing, LLC charters, discounts, and special experiences.
VIP Access Pass Rate
$695 — 12 Month Pass

Potential VIP Access Pass holders must apply for the pass and complete the standard vetting and background check process prior to approval.
A limited number of passes are available.
In practice, the VIP Access Pass typically pays for itself after just a few weekend charters per year.
Charter Eligibility & Crew Requirements
All charters are subject to screening, vetting, and background checks by Rabbit Hole Sailing, LLC prior to approval of any charter request. Requesting a charter does not guarantee acceptance.
Crew Composition – (3–6 persons aboard)
Operations Crew (minimum of 3 operational crew)
- At least two fully qualified and vetted sailors must be aboard for operations during every charter.
- Sailors holding US Sailing Coastal Passage Making (CPM) or Offshore Passage Making (OPM) certifications are strongly preferred, as these certifications reflect the level of experience appropriate for operations aboard SV Rabbit Hole.
- Sailors holding US Sailing Bareboat Cruising (BBC) certification or equivalent may be considered, however all sailing resumes and experience will be reviewed for suitability.
- A third crew member must hold at least US Sailing Basic Cruising (BC) certification or equivalent.
Additional Crew
Up to three additional crew or guests may be aboard during charter operations.
Maximum persons aboard: 6
These requirements ensure safe vessel operations and a high-quality sailing experience aboard SV Rabbit Hole.
Check-Out Sail (Qualification Evaluation)
Sailors who are not qualified based on initial screening and vetting may demonstrate competency through a Check-Out Sail with a Rabbit Hole Sailing, LLC testing instructor. During this evaluation, the instructor assesses seamanship, vessel handling, and operational knowledge prior to approval for bareboat charter privileges.
Rate – $695
Format:
• 4–6 hour sail aboard SV Rabbit Hole with a US Sailing Certified Instructor
• 1–2 sailors may attempt qualification during the session
• Includes pre-sail and post-sail competency discussions
• Evaluation covers seamanship, vessel handling, safety procedures, and operational knowledge
A Check-Out Sail is a competency evaluation only. Completion of a Check-Out Sail does not guarantee qualification for charter privileges.
Instructor-Led Skill Building
Instructor-led charters may be available for sailors preparing for a Check-Out Sail, or for those wishing to hone their skills aligned with the US Sailing Keelboat Certification Pathway including:
Basic Cruising (BC)
Bareboat Cruising (BBC)
Coastal Passage Making (CPM)
Offshore Passage Making (OPM)
Standard charter rates plus instructional fees apply. Minimum standards & Certifications required for each level of Instructor Led Charters.
Instructor-Led Charters are intended for skill refinement and seamanship development, not as substitutes for formal certification courses.
For BBC Qualified Sailors
Sailors who hold US Sailing Bareboat Cruising (BBC) certification and are building experience toward Coastal Passage Making (CPM) certification may wish to explore bareboat charter opportunities with our collaborative partner, Califia Charters.

While slightly smaller than SV Rabbit Hole, SV Califia offers an excellent platform for building charter experience and advancing seamanship skills.

These may include, but are not limited to, safety concerns, unsatisfactory references, background check results, prior incidents or damage history, failure to meet crew qualification requirements, or any other factor that may impact safe and responsible vessel operations.
Prior charter participation or approval does not guarantee future acceptance. Each charter request is evaluated independently based on current information and operational considerations.
